Lead Your Family Like Jesus book review

"Leadership is an influence process."--Ken Blanchard, Lead Your Family Like Jesus

(C) Tyndale House
This book shows parents how to become like the ultimate role model--Jesus.  Using twelve priceless principles based on Jesus' life and teaching Blanchard, Phil Hodges and Tricia Goyer explain how every member of the family can benefit when parents take on their God-given role as servant-leaders in the home.

As a parent of eight children, I can honestly say I wish this book would have been written when my older children were still young.  A few of my favorite chapters discussed knowing a bump in the road from a crisis, inspiring obedience and not rebellion, and turning mistakes into opportunities through forgiveness.  If you have younger children, this book will position you to help your whole family succeed by teaching you early on how to lead your children.  If you have older children, perhaps teenagers, know that this book is for you, too!  It is an opportunity to show your children that leading as an example of Jesus is of high importance and it allows you to talk with your children about why you feel this way, what you expect from them, and what they can expect from you.  Finally, my husband and I had never considered our family's core values before reading this book.  It was a great inspiration to sit down and think about what we believe the Lord is leading us to do as a family and then to discuss that with our children.  Tricia Goyer's transparency of her unplanned pregnancy hit home as well since I too was an unwed teen mom.

If you have children, this book is for you.  If your children are grown, I highly recommend getting this book for them to use with your grandchildren!
