Homeschooling Hump Day Encouragement

Creating a Vision for Your Homeschool

If you are new to homeschooling, perhaps you've never really considered why it is you chose to educate your children at home. What is the end result you are expecting? Are you focusing on academics or developing a skill? Do you want your children to pursue a particular career path? Or is there more?

When my husband and I began homeschooling our children over 20 years ago, we hardly had any answers for those questions. As veteran homeschoolers now, however, we have narrowed down what our vision statement is for our children's education: to create a generation of lifelong learners who are not afraid to pursue, investigate and explore any career field they desire. We don't urge them to seek jobs that will pay a higher salary than others. We don't dismiss dreams that to others may seem unattainable. We don't squash their dreams before they have a chance to explore them and give them wings. We simply encourage them to do what is in each one of them to do in life.
You see, we fully believe that the Lord predestines each child for good things and a higher purpose when they become adults. It is our job as homeschooling parents to allow opportunities for our children to explore and try some of those things on their hearts. God wove that desire to go and do into their very DNA!
So what is your vision for your homeschool? I'd love to hear from you!!

Blessings!
